The Local Area

Lynton is an attractive village with a museum and good range of restaurants, cafes and craft shops. The town hall hosts a Visitor Centre as well as films, drama and exhibitions. 600 feet below, connected by the famous cliff railway, is Lynmouth, which lies at the confluence of the East and West Lyn rivers. It has a small harbour and a shingle beach. The Exmoor National Park visitor centre is at the foot of the railway. 

Nearby is the National Trust property of Watersmeet which offers both moderate and gentle walks in spectacular countryside, with teas afterwards.

The many local footpaths include sections of several long distance paths including the South West Coast Path. the Tarka Trail, the Two Moors Way , the Samaritans Way and the  Coleridge Way.
